Ferrari 430 Scuderia
The new Ferrari 430 Scuderia is a special series based on the F430 and is aimed specifically at Ferrari's most passionate and sports-driving oriented clients. The 430 Scuderia not only bears the name of the company's Formula 1 outfit, it also reflects many details found only in the company's single-seater racing cars. Development focused on lightweight materials, minimum trimmings and innovative technology. All this to exalt the car's extremely high-performance and ability to thrill the driver.
Vehicle dynamics, control and performance thus represent the zenith of Ferrari's achievements in terms of developing road-certified sports cars. Serving as the successor onto the Challenge Stradale, the Ferrari 430 Scuderia was unveiled by Michael Schumacher at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. Aimed to compete with cars like the Porsche RS-models and the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera while remaining street legal, meaning super lightweight, it is lighter by 220 lbs. and more powerful by 508 horsepower at 8500 rpm than the standard F430. Thus, the weight-to-power ratio is reduced from 2.96 kg/hp to 2.5 kg/hp. In addition to the weight saving measures, the Scuderia semi-automatic transmission gains improved "Superfast," known as "Superfast2," software for faster 60 millisecond shift-times. A new traction control system combines the F1-Trac traction and stability control with the E-Diff electronic differential, providing superb performance both on and off the track. The Ferrari 430 Scuderia does 0-60 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 199 miles per hour.
The cosmetic differences between the Ferrari 430 Scuderia and the F430, upon which it is based, include a restyled front fascia, modified side-skirts, twin exhaust tips, a revised rear diffuser design, 19-inch wheels designed specifically for the Ferrari 430 Scuderia, carbon-fiber wing mirrors, carbon-fiber challenge grille, two racing stripes along the middle and the Ferrari 430 Scuderia badge.
Price for the Ferrari Scuderia is $261,956. Buyers can further personalize their 430 Sucderia through Ferrari's Carrozzeria Scaglietti program that focuses in this case on the Racing and Track areas.
