Lamborghinis Continue To Breath Normally - Or Do They...?

Stephan Winkelmann, the boss of Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini, has recently announced that the Santa'Agata factory will continue to produce normally aspirated performance vehicles for the foreseeable future. It rules out any move to turbocharge the V10 Gallardo or V12 Aventador for now, although he was understandably careful about the longer term. "For the time being it will not happen,” said Winkelmann. “For this decade, I don’t see it happening in the super sport car business – although I would also caution against saying it could never happen." The main point here being that emission regulations and possible fuel changes, that can't be known about in advance, might radically change any current plans.
Here at In Sixth Gear we can see why he wants to keep to the spirit of Lamborghini - it's something they've never done and the next-generation Gallardo expected in around two years will not feature forced induction. On the other hand, when you see the results - like the amazing twin turbo Gallardo elsewhere on this site - it becomes an extremely attractive proposition. There's also an interesting rumor that the upcoming Audi R8 upgrade could well feature turbocharging and Audi are Lamborghini's sister company, so if the technology is already in place....who knows? Until that happens, there are always alternatives. If you're in search of extra horsepower to turn your Lamborghini into an even more ferocious bull, why not give us a call and talk it through with our performance experts? They'll be able to give you all the detail you need and discuss the pros and cons of turbocharging compared to other ways of increasing output.
