Gallardo Vs Aventador: Who Wins The Battle Of Lamborghini's Raging Bulls?
If you put the fabulous V12 Lamborghini Aventador up against the equally superb but slightly less-powerful Gallardo you've got something of a miss-match, right? Good as the Gallardo is - and with that howling V10 engine and all-wheel drive it's still a very rapid and hugely desirable beast - it simply can't cope head-to-head with the latest from the Sant'Agata factory. The Aventador delivers 691 horsepower as standard, the older sports car a "mere" 600. So it's going to be fast, furious and a lot of fun, but really it's a no contest.
Except there's nothing standard about this particular Gallardo. This raging bull has had a considerable boost thanks to the addition of twin Heffner turbos. As you'll see from the video that doesn't just level the playing field, it tilts it heavily in favor of the V10-engined car. You're about to see a couple of examples that illustrate what professional tuning can do. Both cars are already rolling, but when they really hit the gas the Aventador is in for a short, sharp, shock. It's a no contest all right - but not in the way you might have expected. Just how many horses are actually being produced is impossible to tell and nobody's giving out figures. Certainly we think it exceeds 1000, perhaps it's as many as 1200. We should point out that we definitely don't condone the use of public roads for this kind of demonstration - private roads or the racetrack please - but it does show what's possible and what the kind of precision equipment we supply can do in the right hands.
