BMW M3 E92

bmw m3 e92

The M3 is a name that already has people's minds alerted to its high performance possibilities. It's the little brother to the V-10 M5 and M6. This fourth generation BMW M3 was first announced at the 2007 Geneva Auto Show with the M3 concept and had its world premier at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show.

Mechanics:

Just as previous M3 generations all introduced a completely new engine, the fourth generation M3 did the same: the BMW S65 engine was introduced. This S65B40 is a naturally aspirated, high revving 4-liter V8 (based on the S85B50 5-liter V10 that powers the E60/E61 M5 and the E63/E64 M6 to date) delivers 420 horsepower at 8,300 rpm and a peak torque of 295 lb.-ft. at 3,900 rpm, which represents a power increase of 22% over the E46 M3. The engine weighs 33 lbs. less than the outgoing six-cylinder for a total weight of 445 lbs. A six-speed manual transmission is standard with the BMW M3 E92.

Hitting the Tarmac:

The BMW M3 E92 sprints from 0-60 mph in 4.5-4.6 seconds and can do ¼ mile in 12.7 seconds at 114.8 mph. The coupe has a top speed of 161 mph.

Styling:

A softened design compared to the sedan version, and, as always, the work of Chris Bangle. Some like it, others don't, but it's up to each and every individual to decide. The BMW E92 M3 has got a package designed to impress thanks to a deeper front bumper with three large air ports, a domed bonnet, widened fenders, and an extended lower rear bumper with four chrome pipes. If you want more there's the optional carbon fiber roof just waiting for you. The BMW M3 E92 is a coupe, but the BMW E90 is a Sedan and the E93 is the convertible.

Interior:

A couple M logos are to be seen here and there within the BMW M3 E92, but all in all, the interior is too similar to other 3-Series BMWs. The regular BMW 3-Series has an interior quality slightly below other premium German manufacturers, and this problem is also true with the M3. The M-drive System is said to have been re-worked.
